Bill began painting in the 1970’s. What began as a hobby has evolved into a passion that he immerses himself in whenever time allows. Much of his work has been inspired by his life experiences. He grew up as the youngest member of a large family in country Victoria, began his career as a Youth Worker and started his own family in suburban Melbourne in the 80’s and then made the ‘Sea Change’ to coastal Ocean Grove almost twenty years ago.
Remarkably, Bill has had no formal training. He believes this has enabled him to explore and develop his own technique. His unique style, incorporating powerful images, bold use of color and a love of changing skylines has always encouraged comment by the observer. His work is unmistakably Australian.
Bill has built a strong reputation in the Geelong district and throughout regional and metropolitan Victoria. In 2006 his work was acknowledged with awards in Portland, Werribee, Horsham and Bacchus Marsh. He recently won major recognition at the Warrnambool Art Show and the Bayside Art Show in Brighton. His paintings are represented in many private collections in Australia, England, New Zealand and the U.S.A
